A thirty-five years old Jewish lawyer breaks with her husband and France to go and live in Jerusalem. Here she joins a magistrate who has made her pregnant. The lawyer decides to defend a Palestinian accused of terrorism and wins the case. The young man, once out of prison, is deported to Jordan only to return illegally into Israel. There he finds is home has been confiscated and he wants to get it back. Once again, he asks the lawyer to help him. The two become firm friends. The woman, abandoned by the magistrate, will choose to live alone.
